Material handling equipment matters to people across every kind of facility, every kind of role, and every kind of ability. PHS Lift is committed to making phslift.com usable by everyone — and we treat accessibility as a product feature, not a checkbox.

1. Conformance Standard

We target conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, the standard recognized by the U.S. Department of Justice and most international accessibility regulations. WCAG 2.1 AA covers perceivability, operability, understandability, and robustness across desktop, tablet, and mobile.

This is an ongoing effort. We perform internal audits quarterly and engage external accessibility reviewers annually.

2. Accessibility Features Provided

  • Semantic HTML: proper heading hierarchy, landmark regions, list markup
  • Keyboard navigation: all interactive elements are reachable and operable via keyboard alone
  • Visible focus indicators: 2-pixel ring with high contrast against backgrounds
  • Color contrast: body text meets 4.5:1 minimum; UI controls meet 3:1 minimum
  • Alt text: meaningful descriptions on product images, decorative images marked appropriately
  • Form labels: every input has an associated label; error messages are programmatically linked
  • ARIA where appropriate: live regions for cart updates, dialog roles for modals
  • Skip-to-content link: for keyboard and screen reader users
  • Reduced motion: animations respect prefers-reduced-motion
  • Resizable text: the site remains usable when zoomed to 200%
  • Touch targets: minimum 44×44 px on mobile, per WCAG 2.5.5

3. Known Limitations

We are transparent about areas still in progress:

  • Third-party content: Manufacturer PDFs (spec sheets, warranty cards) may not always be fully accessible. We work with Noblelift to improve these over time.
  • Embedded video: Some product demos are hosted on third-party platforms. We provide transcripts where available and are adding captions to remaining videos.
  • Complex spec tables: Detailed forklift comparison tables can be challenging for screen readers due to multi-axis data. We provide a "simple view" toggle on these pages.
  • Image-heavy buying guides: Some legacy buying guides contain infographics without complete text equivalents. We are progressively replacing these.

4. Assistive Technology Compatibility

The site has been tested with:

  • NVDA (Windows) with Firefox and Chrome
  • JAWS (Windows) with Chrome and Edge
  • VoiceOver (macOS) with Safari
  • VoiceOver (iOS) with Safari
  • TalkBack (Android) with Chrome
  • Keyboard-only navigation across all browsers
  • Dragon NaturallySpeaking voice control

5. Feedback & Issue Reporting

If you encounter an accessibility barrier, we want to know — and we want to fix it. Please reach out using any of these channels:

Include in your report:

  1. The page URL where you experienced the barrier
  2. A description of what you were trying to do
  3. The assistive technology you were using (if any)
  4. Your preferred contact method for a follow-up

We aim to respond within 2 business days and to remediate critical issues within 10 business days.

6. ADA Compliance

PHS Lift recognizes its obligations under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and applicable state accessibility laws. If you require information on this site in an alternative format (large print, audio recording, plain text email), contact us and we will provide it without charge.

7. Continuous Improvement

Our accessibility roadmap includes:

  • Quarterly internal audits using Axe DevTools and Lighthouse
  • Annual third-party audits with WCAG 2.1 AA scope
  • Accessibility training for all front-end engineers and content editors
  • Accessibility review as part of every product launch checklist
  • User testing with assistive-technology users at least twice per year
